FIRST GENERATION

1. David BLEAN(1) (2) was born in 1725 in IRE. (3) He died in 1804. (1)(3) He was buried in Newville Cem, Newville, Cumberland Co., PA.(4) David Blean, often spelled Blain, was one of the original Scotch-Irish settlers of what is now the Newville area in Cumberland County, PA. The book, "History of Cumberland County", on p.520 in the bigraphical sketch for James McCulloch, describes David Blean "...who settled, in an early day, upon the farm on Big Spring now owned by David Duncan."

In 1948, Charles Seidel published a map showing the outline of the original land grants from "The Proprietors and the Commonwealth, to the individuals, from the Conodoguinet Creek to Big Spring and the Great Road leading from Shippensburg to Carlisle." This map shows Blain's property as follows:

"Applied for 300 acres, Application No. 925, dated August 22, 1766 situated in Newton and West Pennsboro, Cumberland County. Surveyed Oct 9, 1767. Returned 203 acres and allowances on warrant to accept dated Nov 24, 1784. Patented Dec 2, 1784, to David Blain." This land was about 3/4 mile north of the Big Spring.

He was one of the original ruling elders of the First United Presbyterian Church of Newville (then called Reformed). Ordained in September, 1764.

He was married to Isabella HILL.(1) Isabella HILL(1) was born in 1745. (5) She died on 12 Aug 1828. (6) She was buried in Newville Cem, Newville, Cumberland Co., PA. (7) David BLEAN and Isabella HILL had the following children:
