Irene Scroggs and Lucille E. Duckworth) in 1936 from records kept by ancestors and obtained from their father and several cousins. It treats selected descendants of John Scroggs. The second section, which has no page numbering and is much larger, deals solely with the descendants of Chalmers Amos Scroggs and was written in 1982 by Roy Reed. (Self).

It is a family history written by his great-grandfather William Lee Scroggs combined with supplemental biographies of recent descendants. Last summer he went back to that area, met some distant relatives and got directions to an old cemetery back in the woods. After making his way through the underbrush he finally found the entrance to the cemetery. As he walked into the cemetery, the first two tombstones he saw were those of one of his ancestors, and one of Jeremiah Scroggs (8 Apr 1755-12 Oct 1839), son of John SCROGGS (one of the Three SCROGGS Brothers). The Morrison friend was kind enough to take a photo of Jeremiah's tombstone and give it to me. I believe the cemetery was near Stony Point, NW of Statesville.".

  96. The "Mystery Paper", a series of copied dates and biographical notes relating to the Thompsons. At first thought to be part of the Mueller/Thompson letters, we now know it could not be. By the handwriting we know it is not written by Newton Craig, Julia Rachel, or Ethelred. It is clear and legible and probably written in the 1930's or 1940's. By process of elimination, we believe it was written by Mary Jane Wallace, aka "Aunt Jenny". Corrected for obvious year error.
